ConcertCrowd Facebook App Turns Concert Discovery Social [16 Aug 2011|12:25pm]

0klman

Integrating with the user's social graph, Facebook App ConcertCrowd (http://www.concertcrowd.com) provides a new way to track artists and discover bands. By analyzing the user's Facebook info, ConcertCrowd provides personalized concert listings based on their location and music preferences. In addition, the app overlays the user's Facebook network within the event listings - showing which of their friends like each artist. This not only makes it easier to identify which friends have the same music tastes, but exposes other artists the user's friends have liked, creating a whole new way to discover bands. ConcertCrowd also connects directly with each Artist's Facebook page, letting the user listen to the artist's music, watch their videos and learn more about them.
"I got tired of finding out that my favorite bands were playing in town only after it was too late. After talking with my friends I realized I wasn't alone and wanted to create a tool that anyone could use to track their favorite artists," says ConcertCrowd creator, Arman Javaherian. "Once we started developing the app, we realized we could also integrate the concert listings with the user's social network, creating a new way to discover bands and music."

"Venomous Love Affair" - Cutting Edge [11 Jul 2011|01:46pm]

0klman

“Venomous Love Affair” by the indie rock band Cutting Edge addresses the attraction of Las Vegas and how it can seduce one before they are even aware of the seduction. Those of us who have been to Sin City knows that you can find anything you want there – gambling, drinking, women, or the night life in any form in which you may be seeking it. The music is full of universal sounds that surround you with a bit of everything. With the backdrop of Las Vegas, the music along with the old Hollywood stars is a strange, but effective mix to really keep you captivated as the video unfolds. The breaks, bass, and mystical flute are interesting and take you to a completely different place – a foreign place, full of mysteries. There’s so much going on in this video that you have to see it to believe it as it is many things – erotic, political, mystical, and filled with secret messages – all of which combine to form an amazingly strong sound and show. The track is from the album, “The Big 14 N’ More”.

The Locals - "Everything Must Go" [15 Jun 2011|04:16pm]

0klman

Shot in Chicago using stop motion and chalk board animation, the video “Everything Must Go” by the alternative pop/rock band The Locals is fresh and innovative. The Locals serve up a powerful sound with the track’s pounding rock libations, with the bass and guitar coming in with a nice, but edgy slant. Strong vocals lead the track into a hard groove that is the perfect backdrop for the video which captivates and entertains viewers quite supremely. As the band takes you on a musical ride, the video stimulates your visual senses with the chalk board animation and stop motion shots of the band performing their single. It is brilliantly brought to life in different times, lighting, and colors. The story shows the main character, “Marty,” in an ominous position as his home begins to crack apart all around him. The adventure continues to unfold in a delightful and deliciously fun way, showing great style and imagination. “Everything Must Go” is directed by Samantha Westerling with the story by Jen Larson. Old school chalk board animation sensation Jack Haynes also lends his artistry talents to the video.

TINY TIM COLLECTION TO BE RERELEASED THROUGH BLUE PIE [19 May 2011|08:08am]

0klman
Blue Pie Records will be redeveloping and redistributing a number of the Grammy-Award nominee Tiny Tim's recordings via digital distribution with the accompanied album art to be contributed by renowned artist Martin Sharp.
Working together with Martin Sharp's 'Tiny Tim' Project Manager David Rowe, Blue Pie will be bringing back to life many of Tiny Tim's popular songs and memories, echoing the talent that he once carried. His recordings will be digitally remastered and remixed by the best digital and production teams to ensure high quality recordings of each and every one of his past works. The redeveloped material will then be available online via iTunes, eMusic and other leading digital retailers.
Herbert Khaury, better known by his stage name Tiny Tim (April 1932 - November 1996), was an American singer and ukulele player. He was most famous for his rendition of Tiptoe Through the Tulips sung in a distinctive high falsetto/vibrato voice (though other performances reveal a broader vocal range). While Tiny Tim was sometimes regarded as a novelty act, his recordings demonstrate a wide knowledge of American popular songs, particularly of the early 20th century.
For more information and updates, keep checking Blue Pie's website, where you will hear it first: www.bluepie.com.au

Vancouver Construction And Music Communities Unites To Build A School On The Other Side Of The World [13 May 2011|06:24pm]

0klman

Project Tujifunze (Too-gee-fun-zay, Swahili for Learning), is a joint Canadian-Tanzanian project dedicated to helping the youngest and most vulnerable children in Mwanza, Tanzania, to have access to basic, quality education.
By building a nursery school in an area called Fumagila on the outskirts of Mwanza city, the project offers an innovative, sustainable and replicable model of facility and education methodology that conforms to the country's Millennium Development Goals.
The post and beam construction will uniquely incorporate material from the old 'sails' of the Canada Place roof in Vancouver, donated by our most recent partner, Canada Place. Many thanks to Architecture for Humanity for their assistance. Other critical material donations were coordinated by Intermind Design as well as project advising. Certainly, the project could never have succeeded without the extraordinary generosity of Dick's Lumber and their help with the wood and construction materials that will become this African school, together with a remarkable donation by Oasis Windows who have generously provided the windows for the school.
The school has been designed to incorporate solar energy and methane capture technologies, passive airflow cooling, rain water harvesting, and use and re-use of various local Tanzanian materials.

Jesse Manley "Devil's Red" [21 Apr 2011|04:24pm]

0klman

Folk/Americana singer/songwriter Jesse Manley's "Find Your Way Home" is a mid-tempo, melancholy but amazingly beautiful easy listening piece. "Find Your Way Home" is one of the songs from Manley’s debut album "Devil's Red," which is slated for release on April 26, 2011. The piano and guitar primarily carry the song, well backed by an accordion, violin and guitarron. The song explores the difficulties of relationships, and its main theme focuses on forgiveness, sympathy, and the complexity and beauty of human interaction. Haunting and emotional, with a quality that transports the listener to a place of both sadness and hope, Manley does a fine job of capturing the heartstrings and keeping them from beginning to end. This is a very strong and well written track both musically and lyrically, and will touch the heart of anyone who has ever been in a troubled relationship, hoping for the best but not knowing what is to come.
